Beating an NYC parking ticket
Kudos to Andy for beating an NYC parking ticket when the fire hydrant was hidden. Stopping, standing or parking within fifteen (15) feet of a fire hydrant is verboten, forbidden, and just plain not allowed. Unless, a licensed driver remains seated behind the wheel of your car ready to move your vehicle upon request to do so, between sunrise and sunset.
But, what if the fire hydrant is completely, totally hidden from sight? There is no rule against parking within fifteen (15) feet of a pile of garbage, right? Exactly, according to Andy.
Andy fought his parking ticket because he believed strongly he was right. He submitted the proper proof, properly and beat his NYC parking ticket charging him with parking within fifteen (15) feet of the pump.

It is “Postman bites dog” kind of thing to beat a fire hydrant parking ticket when the pump is hidden from plain view. Congratulations, Andy. Kudos to the parking ticket judge who did the right thing and dismissed Andy’s parking ticket.

Takeaway: If a fire hydrant is completely hidden, take photographs and fight the parking ticket. What do you have to lose, except your valuable time? There is no fine reduction for a fire hydrant violation.
