The courtroom scene in “A Few Good Men” is riveting. It still sends chills down my spine. Tom Cruise wants the truth. He’s entitled to the truth. Jack Nicholson, face contorted, yells back, “You can’t handle the truth”. Wow.
The testimony that follows from Col. Jessup is breathtaking. How may courtroom movie moments are better? Culminating in “Did you order the Code Red?” Jessup losing control, admitting,”Yes, I ordered the Code Red” So, what does this have to do with 3 NYC parking tickets?
What if the NYC parking ticket czar is under oath, on the witness stand, in a courtroom. What questions would you ask? Would you yell like Tom Cruise, you are entitled to the truth? None of us like the NYC parking ticket policy or procedure. 10M New York parking tickets issued last year, generating more than $600M in revenue. Here’s your chance. Are we entitled to the truth? Can we handle the truth?
Welp, here are some questions I would ask:
Did you order the parking ticket warriors to issue parking tickets to citizens that are sitting behind the wheel of a car, standing alongside a fire hydrant, ready to move the vehicle if requested to do so, knowing full well that it’s not a violation of the law?
Did you order the parking ticket warriors to issue parking tickets to citizens standing while dropping off passengers, knowing full well it’s not a violation of the law?
Did you order the parking ticket warriors to issue parking tickets to citizens standing at a bus stop, while discharging passengers, knowing full well it’s not a violation of the law?
Have any of you received a parking ticket under these circumstances? For example, you’re handed an NYC parking ticket while behind the wheel of your car ready to move and the warrior says, “too late”? I’ll bet you have.
Colonel Jessup wanted to get back on a plane and save the world on his own terms. It didn’t work out for Colonel Jessup. How about the NYC parking ticket czar?
If you’re angry about receiving parking tickets. Stand up for your rights. Fight the tickets you shouldn’t receive!
Please post a comment. If we don’t share our experiences, how can we win this battle? Your opinion matters!
