Be still my beating heart
I love West Side Story, and love Leonard Bernstein even more. What I find amazing is he wrote some terrific lyrics about this terrific transformational Bill being considered by the NYC Council:
“Could it be? Yes, it could.
Something’s coming, something’ good,
If I can wait!
Something’s comin’, I don’t know what it is
But it is
Gonna be great!
Fox 5 News reports
The NYC Council is beginning hearings next week on a Bill which will allow the NYC driving public to return to their parking spaces immediately after the street cleaner cleans on alternate parking days. In other words, no more waiting across the street for no reasonable reason after the street cleaner goes by, and no more circling the block waiting for the ASP rule to expire. When the street cleaner passes, you are free to move about your neighborhood without fear of being blindsided with a NYC parking ticket. The proposed legislation has sixteen (16) co-sponsors. Council Member Ydanis Rodrigues spoke out:
“The current state of parking enforcement violates the original intention of alternate side parking — it is for the purposes of street cleaning, not raising revenue or making it more difficult to have cars in the city. “
Amen to that. Here’s the Fox 5 Video:
Imagine, no more NYC parking tickets for pre-mature ASP. Here’s a link to the proposed legislation.
My gnarled, old, arthritic fingers are crossed. How ’bout yours.
