Let’s make a parking ticket fix’in deal
Murray Weiss, a terrific investigative journalist for DNA Info, reports the NYC Police Department is offering deals to police officers tainted by the scandal, but who do not face criminal charges. These tainted cops fixed parking tickets, speeding tickets, or drunk driving tickets, for family, relatives, or friends.
The deal offered by the NYPD consists of:
- Loss of one day’s pay; and
- Five (5) vacation days;
- For every ticket fixed
Tainted police officer’s pensions
Those police officers who cut the deal are permitted to keep their coveted pensions.
“On average, an officer can retire after 20 years with annual pensions equal to at least half their final year’s salary of approximately $91,000, not including overtime and other health and financial benefit packages for them and their families.” [DNA Info]
