Parking ticket warrior returns from Planet Druidia to issue this parking ticket
Marooned 40 years ago by the Evil Empire for failing to issue irrational, unjust, parking tickets, a joyful parking ticket warrior returned to earth and seized the moment. Our lucky warrior stumbled upon an accident scene in Brooklyn where an errant motorist slammed into two legally parked cars. The force from the impact pushed the first parked car into a crosswalk.
With a burst of speed that belied her years away on Druidia, our lucky warrior issued a parking ticket for parking in a crosswalk to the car that was victimized by the motorist’s negligence.
The warrior holstered her scanner, and proudly placed the parking ticket on the windshield of the car perched partially on the sidewalk in the crosswalk.
This could never happen to me!
You wanna bet? I was contacted a while back by a wonderful member of our driving community asking for help on his appeal. He related the following story:
” I was parked legally, when the car in front of me backed into my car pushing it backwards to its final resting place…In front of a pedestrian ramp. I was issued a parking ticket, and filed a dispute. But, unfortunately, I didn’t present the proper proof properly at the original hearing and lost. I want to appeal.”
Generally, you are not permitted to present new evidence on appeal. However, the appeals panel can consider new proofs, IN THE INTEREST OF JUSTICE. Joe and I prepared extensive evidence clearly demonstrating that a motorist behaving badly, including a video of the surveillance tape, schematic renderings of the scene of the parking crime, and more, actually performed this dastardly deed.
I think Mel Brooks says it best…
