Parking ticket enrages rickshaw driver
A parking ticket ignited a horrific chain of events involving a Chinese rickshaw driver and parking ticket warrior.
Guo Huang, 43, was setting down a passenger when he spotted the traffic officer writing him a ticket for illegal parking in a no-parking zone in the city of Tangshan in Hebei province, northern China. Huang then grabbed a can of liquid from the taxi and doused himself in it, saying he was going to burn himself to death. But when the police officer went to remonstrate with the driver, he grabbed the officer and then flicked the switch on the lighter, engulfing them both in flames.”
The parking ticket warrior managed to break free, but Huang burned to death...over a parking ticket.
Parking ticket rage hits close to home
Let’s leave China and turn our attention to the mean streets of New York City, where a fight erupted over a parking space. Fortunately, neither combatant was proficient in the sweet science of pugilism, and ultimately wore themselves out before any damage could be done…over a parking space.
Fight over parking space results in coma
You may recall the highly publicized case involving Oscar Fuller’s one punch knock-out of Lana Rosas because Rosas was trying to save an NYC parking space for a friend. Fuller, in the dark trunks, stands 5’7” tall and weighs in at 150 pounds. Rosas’ tale of the tape reveals a height of 4′ 11″ and a weight of fewer than 100 pounds. The force of Fuller’s fist striking Rosas’ face caused Rosas to fall backward and hit her head against the pavement.
The first trial ended in a mistrial. However, the defendant was retried, convicted, and sentenced to jail…over a parking space.
Commentary
Road rage and parking rage can have disastrous consequences for the combatants and their families. Please, control your rage and don’t engage a parking ticket warrior or another driver under any circumstances.
If you get an unjust parking ticket, resist the urge to argue or plead with a warrior. They will never, ever cancel a parking ticket (except under one circumstance). Save your defense and fight the unjust parking ticket in person, online, or by mail.
Remember, it is a felony to assault a parking ticket warrior, don’t do it.
Any stories you’d like to share? We would all love to hear them.
[Larry’s note… A huge thank you goes out to “Loquitur” for the wonderful illustration of road rage].
you won’t believe this.today this morning i parked near the bus stop where the highscho0ol kids wait for their bus.my wife got out of the car to take my 4 year old to school.and a police car parked behind me telling my wife that i can’t park there.and im in a no standing zone where the bus stop is.so i can park here.and the no parking sign behind my car has one arrow pointing in the opposite direction from me.so my wife tells the cop that the arrow is pointing in the other direction meaning i can park here.so the cop tells her i will look into this and look this up.damn cop doesn’t even know the signs and the parking laws.
Joe,
Good morning.
Love the story.
I always warn members of the driving public, not to trust the butcher, baker, candlestick maker, or a cop to give you solid parking ticket advice. Handing out parking tickets for cops is at the bottom of the “desirable activities list.”
I’m thrilled that you knew right from wrong in Parking Ticket Land.
Thanks for sharing your story with us, Joe.
