NYC parking ticket warriors are assaulted every day
C’mon man, get a life. Don’t you realize it is a felony to assault an NYC parking ticket warrior? Are you stupid enough to risk a criminal record, a fine, and imprisonment over a parking ticket? Violence against warriors must stop now.
“Our members go through this every day. They get assaulted almost every day in New York City,” said Sokunbi Olufemi, the union’s executive vice president.
Olufemi praised NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton, noting that the department recently approved his members to wear bulletproof vests. However, he said his members should also be issued batons and pepper spray to defend themselves.
“I’ve been to the hospital. I’ve seen my members with blood all over. It’s crazy. We need more protection,” Olufemi said.
Here’s what happens when you lose control and tempers rage over a parking ticket.
A finance worker arrested for throwing eggs at Warriors
The DNA Info reported the following story:
A fuming finance worker was busted Thursday morning after he threw eggs at two traffic agents ticketing his illegally parked car, challenged them to a fistfight and then scrambled away to hide in a Williamsburg building, law enforcement sources said.
David Prisco, 36, was arrested by NYPD officers when they lured him out of hiding by having a tow truck arrived to haul away his Lexus, according to the sources.
The bad egg told officers, “I know I have a temper,” according to sources.
Prisco, who is from Staten Island and works for a data management company that services merchants, was arraigned Thursday and charged with a class A misdemeanor for obstructing governmental administration, a class B misdemeanor for menacing and a violation for harassment, according to Brooklyn prosecutors.
Prisco lost his cool Thursday at 9:39 a.m. when the traffic agents ticketed his car for being illegally parked on Broadway near Kent Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.
Prisco, who is known for regularly parking in the spot, then pelted the agents with eggs, according to the complaint.
The complaint says that he also ran up to them with his fists raised and said, “What are you going to do? Do you want to fight?”
He then slinked away into a nearby residential building where he frequently stays, sources said.
When NYPD officers responded, they called a tow truck, and Prisco ran out of the building when he saw the truck arrive, law enforcement sources said.
A madman with a meat cleaver, upset over his car getting booted, was shot by cops in Midtown
The Daily News posted the following account:
A madman with a meat cleaver, upset over his car getting booted, was shot by cops in Midtown on Thursday after he sliced an off-duty NYPD detective in the head during a chaotic confrontation.
The mayhem began less than a block from Penn Station during the height of rush hour after Akram Joudeh went into a blind rage when his illegally parked Nissan Sentra was slapped with a wheel lock, cops said.
It ended with Detective Brian O’Donnell recovering from a 6-inch gash that runs from his temple to his jaw and his attacker in critical condition.
Career criminal Joudeh, 32, was trying to remove the boot from the front tire of the white sedan, which was parked near 30th St. on Broadway when two cops approached him around 5 p.m.
All types of violence must stop
Several years ago I reported a case involving a fight over an NYC parking space.
You may recall the highly publicized case involving Oscar Fuller’s one punch knock-out of Lana Rosas because Rosas was trying to save an NYC parking space for a friend. Fuller, in the dark trunks, stands 5’7” tall and weighs in at 150 pounds. Rosas’ tale of the tape reveals a height of 4′ 11″ and weighing less than 100 pounds. The force from Fuller’s fist striking Rosas’ face caused Rosas to fall backward and hit her head against the pavement.
Rosas remained in a coma for one week and suffered brain damage. She needs to wear a helmet to protect her from further injury to this day.
A conviction for second-degree felony assault against defendant Fuller was a slam dunk, right? The only serious issue should be how long he spends in jail, correct?
[Ultimately, a mistrial, a retrial, a conviction, and jail.]
Commentary
All types of violence and abuse against warriors must stop right now. If you get a parking ticket you believe is unjust. Zip it and fight it. If you get a parking ticket you know is justified and is mistake free…Zip it, pay it, and move on.
You’re assaulting the messenger when you disrespect a warrior. She didn’t write the rules or enact the laws. He is simply a hard-working, underpaid person that is trying to do their job and support their family.
The best way to get even is to fight an unjust ticket and win.
New York is not a city of savages. There is a reason why your so-call warriors are treated that way.. and it is because NYC treats drivers worst. Fines are abusive. Your warriors, are giving tickets (which are anti constitutional), the tickets are assumed to be right, and the acused guilty. You want a city tired of the system that is anti working class to be happy about it?
Hi, Newton,
Good afternoon.
