Is this a NYC pedestrian parking ticket ramp scam?
I disputed parking tickets charging our customers with parking in front of a “legal” pedestrian ramp located in front of 175 Claremont Avenue in Manhattan. Here is one of the comments to Larry’s Blog:
“Hi Larry,
Before I tell my story, I would like to thank you for these very useful information.
My sister, who is living in CA, and I went to visit NYC this thanksgiving and got TWO parking tickets at the same location as the photo you shown above! (175 Claremont Ave, right?) The reason: blocking pedestrian ramp….
I even saw policemen put ticket on my car. I tried to beg off the second ticket, but it does not work. Also, they seemed very sure that I parked at a wrong location! However, at that time, I did not know it is legal.
I guessed that they either do not know the new rule or they just thought I am from another state (I am living in Boston) and may pay the ticket to avoid trouble.
I am glad my friend told me your website before I pay the ticket. Now, I know I can save that $330.
(But our trip was basically ruined after this event, that is not money can buy back….)

Commentary
I think Lew Carroll said it best…
“Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Beware the pedestrian ramp, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the rogue Parking Ticket Warrior, and shun
The illegal NYC parking ticket”
If you were one of the victims of the 175 Claremont Avenue Jabberwocky, please share your experiences. Let’s put a stop to this pedestrian ramp scam!
