New York City parking ticket toolbox full of tips
Shortly after my wedding day, my father-in-law gave me a wonderful gift. A shiny, fire engine red, tool box packed with tools and other handyman stuff. Thirty-two years later, my beautiful tool box remains unopened. I’m not very handy, and never learned how to use any of the tools.
I wish to right a wrong, and pass along the gift of a tool box to the NYC driving public. The difference is, your tool box comes with instructions on how to beat, avoid, fight and win NYC parking tickets.
Knowledge gives you the power to park freely in NYC without fear of a grossly expensive parking ticket
Did you know that:
- On major legal holidays, No Stopping, No Standing and No Parking rules are suspended; except where those regulations are normally in effect 7 days per week?
- In 1959, all of NYC was designated a tow away zone under the State’s Vehicle & Traffic Laws? Your car can be towed for any NYC parking violation without a tow away zone sign.
- Double parking of a passenger vehicle is illegal at all times and places. However, you can stop or stand your vehicle on the roadway side of a vehicle parked next to the curb, if you are temporarily discharging or receiving passengers; as long as Stopping is not prohibited
Here are some terrific resources if you wish to fight a NYC traffic ticket, DOT violation; or safely park you vehicle in a garage and pay a reasonable, competitive parking fee:
- Matthew J. Weiss, Esquire is a fierce fighter, who specializes in fighting traffic tickets and DOT violations. Here’s a link Traffic Tickets
- Park It Guides will tell you all you need to know about garage parking in NYC. Here’s a link Park It Guides.
Real-time traffic cameras help you navigate the mean streets of NYC
How do you safely head out or about NYC without getting a parking ticket for “Blocking the Box?” This may come as a major surprise to the NYC driving public, but the NYC DOT offers a terrific resource. It is real-time traffic cameras covering many of the busy streets in the five boroughs of NYC. Here’s the link Real Time Traffic Cameras
I hope you have better luck with your NYC parking ticket toolbox than I had with my shiny, fire engine red gift from my father-in-law. Park safely in NYC!
