The length of a bus stop is…
A bus stop starts at the bus stop sign and extends in the direction of the arrow(s) on the bus stop sign until the next parking sign, or if none, the end of the block. Ergo, a bus stop zone varies from block to block
A bus stop is not:
-a “long distance” from the bus stop sign
-Long enough for a bus to fit (an NYC bus is about 42 feet long).
-I only stopped in the bus stop zone for 5 seconds to drop off my Aunt Tillie and still got a ticket
You are permitted to stop temporarily to expeditiously drop off or pick up a passenger and leave the area immediately, as long as you don’t interfere with a bus coming or going. Balderdash! If you stop in the danger zone you’ll get a ticket. A warrior isn’t standing there with a stopwatch.
Stay out of bus stops
