Which States’ drivers pay the least NYC parking ticket fines?
When g-d was handing out math/data analysis/statistics skills, I was standing in the NYC parking ticket line. Figures, right. I am desperately seeking those skills to this day.
That’s one of the reasons why I am mesmerized by the work of Professor Ben Wellington. Professor Wellington writes the “I Quant NY” Blog.
NYC Open Data is his universe, and analyzing parking ticket data his passion.
Drivers from all fifty states get NYC parking tickets
New Jersey drivers win the most NYC parking ticket fines (next to NY drivers) less than a hair under $80M. Wyoming finished last with $25K/year.
Some other states make hefty contributions to the Evil Empire’s cash flow:
- Pennsylvania-$18,093,221
- Florida-$8,565,640
- Massachusettes-$6,457,209
Data paints a pretty picture
