The parking ticket fine reduction program is about to end
The NY Times published this amazing story today. The parking ticket fine reduction program is kaput in January 2012.
“It turns out that in New York City government, there can be too much of a good thing. The city’s Department of Finance said this week that it was ending the popular program after its mutual benefits had ceased to be so mutual.
It seems that so many parking violators were taking advantage of the reduced fines that the city was actually losing money on the offer — something of an irony, since the program began in 2007 to reduce a backlog of unpaid tickets.”
I’ll keep you posted on this sad, but true breaking news.
Park safely, or carry a large wallet.
