Here is some parking tickets justice, Chicago style
The Sun-Times reports some interesting facts and figures about parking tickets trends in Chicago. Fewer tickets are being issued for parking violations, while instances of Das Boot being applied to vehicles belonging to motor miscreants are on the rise. Here’s the punch line, “Ticketing was down, primarily because crime-fighting was a higher priority for Chicago Police Officers.” Someone really went out on a limb to make that policy decision. Focusing on adult type crimes instead of parking crimes. Amazing!
Did you know your vehicle may be “Booted” in Chicago if you have three unpaid parking tickets of any age; or two unpaid parking tickets one year or older? And we thought NYC was tough.
CCTV Cameras used to issue parking tickets in France
Municipal officials in Nice, France intend to use 600 T.V. cameras to automatically issue parking tickets. According to the “Riviera Review” (I get a tan just thinking about the name of this newspaper), the Nice powers-to-be originally promised to use these invasions of privacy type cameras to help fight violent crime. I’m afraid there’s not much money in catching bad guys/gals. So, the cameras are being re-directed to more productive use…Fighting parking crime.
I think we should send the policymaker from Chicago to Nice. What do you think?
Chutzpah
Jalopnik reports, Janice Eberle of Lynnfield, Massachusetts is suing the city of Danvers for issuing a parking ticket to her Mercedes ML320 after she’d parked in a handicapped spot. Though not handicapped, she claims the $300 ticket’s unjustified because it was raining and her arm hurt.
I have nothing more that is “printable” to say.
