Let’s get our NYC parking ticket “house” in order for 2011
A great place to begin with is by securing a copy of the 2011 ASP Rules Suspension Calendar. This calendar informs you of the dates for all Major Legal Holidays, and Legal Holidays when ASP Rules are suspended. Those wonderful days when you don’t have to lace up your sneakers for a race to a parking space from the restricted to the unrestricted side of the street. I am hopeful a pending Bill before the NYC Council will allow the driving public to legally sit in their car until the broom passes by.
Innovation has many faces. What face would you sketch for the NYC DOT barrel full of innovative resources and tools to help you stay connected to the NYC parking rules and reminders? For example, you can now load the ASP Rules Suspension Calendar directly into your electronic calendar. Simply follow this orange brick link. Our 2011 parking ticket house is starting to look good!
You may wish to click on this NYC DOT Press Release listing some of those innovative changes.
Kudos to the NYC DOT for innovation, and its effort to share tons of information with the NYC driving public. Only problem is, who is going to translate this plethora of information into common, every day, English? For example, you can download 123 pages of Highway Rules, 27 pages which are specifically devoted to NYC stopping, standing and parking rules; and 7 pages of definitions.
You can download a chart of the 99 parking violation codes, approximately 93 of which are active. And, match up the Code to the 4-08 et seq. Rule. But, who amongst the driving public is going to do that; and even if you do, how will you understand the meaning of all this data?
Add the NYC Administrative Code, and the Vehicle and Traffic Laws of the State of NY, which are available on line, and you are buried under the information highway. Killed by information overload.
It’s like sitting down to a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, with no silverware.
Do you understand all this stuff? If so, how’d you learn it? Please comment. Your opinion really matters!
