Parking ticket rules, laws and signs are getting tougher and more difficult to decipher. Please don’t attempt to park in NYC without a least a rudimentary knowledge of the curbside commandments.

-Translate the metes and bounds description
North side of Waverly Avenue_15 feet West of Greene Avenue in Brooklyn
-Is this metes and bounds description misdescribed?
Yes. It is misdescribed. The North Side of Waverly Avenue does not exist. The sides are East-West. Ergo, 12 feet West doesn’t exist.
2. True or False? Your burden of proof on appeal is to persuade a 3-judge appeals panel that the original judge made a mistake of law or fact based on the evidence submitted. You cannot offer new evidence on appeal.
Absolutely true!
3. What’s a stop line? Can you park in the area between a stop line and crosswalk line?
Here’s a detailed explanation of a stop line. Yes. You can park between a stop line and a crosswalk line.
4. True or False? You can park in front of a driveway if you own the property. It doesn’t matter whether your car is registered to the property address.
Your car must be registered to the property address to legally park in front of the driveway
5. True or False? A commercial vehicle can park within 15-feet of a fire hydrant, if:
- It’s between sunrise and sunset
- A driver remains seated behind the wheel
- She has the keys
- And is ready to move her vehicle on request of a person in authority
False. This well-known exception to the fire hydrant rule is limited to passenger vehicles only
