“The City” alerted NYC drivers about excessive booting
I love reading the news in general. Moreover, I read about NYC’s local interest news, especially those articles related to parking and parking tickets.
Meanwhile, the Evil Empire lost a bunch of parking ticket revenue during the pandemic. Most importantly, the NYC driving public currently owes millions of dollars for unpaid parking tickets.
The news team at “The City” reported about the major uptick in booting to recover parking dollars. And gave us interactive graphs demonstrating the increase.
The New York City Sheriff’s Office has booted thousands of cars in the last few months after repeated warnings to drivers about hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid parking tickets.
The city’s Department of Finance began sending letters in March to drivers with pandemic-era parking and traffic-camera tickets, to let them know that enforcement would resume after being put on pause in spring of 2020.
The first warning brought in more than $50 million in unpaid tickets. A second warning sent in July brought in another $30 million, according to city officials. The tickets are for parking violations, speed camera and red-light camera violations, and other vehicle-related issues.

Is the surge working?
Yes, it is.
“Fiscally, the drastic boot-up seems successful. Enforcement over this past August and September delivered the most revenue from vehicle tickets to the city for any two-month period since 2014, according to Finance data — with more than $11.4 million in September and more than $11.7 million in August.
Meanwhile, recent reports have highlighted flouting of traffic laws, especially when speed cameras weren’t looking.
The push to recoup money owed from tickets also comes as the city faces a budget crunch, although a City Hall spokesperson said the booting was unrelated.”

Towed Vehicles: F.A.Q
I despise booting or towing for parking tickets. But, c’mon man, choose one or the other! Sadly, booting and/or towing is a fact of life in Parking Ticket Land. Therefore, it may be a good idea to read a comprehensive FAQ about these obscene practices. Especially since it comes from the PR Department of the Evil Empire.

Unless the Commercial Delivery Industry starts an organized protest against the City regarding the incredibly restrictive, costly, and unfair parameters of their parking rules, the City Council will continue getting away with the legalized shakedown of the very supply chain it pretends to advocate for.
Hi David,
Good afternoon.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Regards,
Larry
Yea so Larry I asked you for help with a ticket in May, you expressed interest but never took me up…so I argued instead, and lost. They sent me a notice of impending judgement, saying I owe about $140. I told them in a letter sent just today to leave me alone, the no standing sign was obscured by trees, I provided pictures, and I said I do not owe anything; I will never pay, remove my ticket from the record, and do not ever contact me in regards to paying again, do not report me to a credit agency, if you my lawyer will treat this as harassment. I also said I am aware of the current shakedown for revenue and I will not be a victim of it, go away.
So long as I do not get another unpaid ticket, at $140 I am save from betting anyway.
Hey Trent,
Good afternoon.
Sorry things didn’t work out, but kudos for fighting the good fight.
Regards,
Larry
